GraceBuilt Kids

Our foundational outreach at GraceBuilt Church is making disciples of children in the Shenandoah Valley and Western Albemarle. Each year well over 250 children age 0-11 are provided a safe environment to learn the Bible and begin a relationship with Jesus Christ. We hope you will bring every child in your neighborhood to join us and give hope to the next generation.

Safety

Our focus is the safety of every child in our care. We recognize that without a safety-first environment learning is impossible. So our safety practices include:

  • Screened, Approved, Trained: We seek to know each applicant well.  This takes time and involves a criminal background check and a detailed spiritual application, and interviews with staff and team leaders. 
  • 2 or More Accountability: We never use solo teachers, rather we group kids and teachers to maximize accountability and fun for every classroom.
  • Bathrooms: We follow strict guidelines, in the nursery the bathroom doors stay open for visibility inside; In the kids department (age 5-11) one person is allowed inside at a time without exceptions.
  • Check-in, check-out: Only the parent who checked-in the child can check out with our text-message based check-in system.

What We Teach

At GraceBuilt all age groups learn through the Bible together. So the same passage Pastor Josh taught the adults on a Sunday is taught to the children the following week. Though application and illustrations change to connect with younger hearts, the essential lesson of the passage is simplified and communicated in an age appropriate way. This allows children and adults to learn balance and depth of scripture, while bringing families into discussion around what they learn.

We use different methods of instruction to reach children with different learning styles. Typically GraceBuilt Kids involves: worship with actions, memory verses, an ice-breaker for making friends, a large-group lesson followed by small-group activities and crafts to help kids process what they learned.

Check-In Details

Check-in all your children age 0-11 fifteen minutes before the service. The check-in minister will get you a sticker you will use to check out your child. Also note the number on the sticker so the ministry team can get a hold of you during the service. Children ages 0-4 should be in the nursery the entire service. However, ages 5-11 should worship with their family. After a few songs they will be called onto the stage for prayer before being sent off to Kids ministry. Check your children out directly after the service.

Parents

We partner with parents to make disciples of their children. We send an email after each Sunday lesson that helps you know what was taught and helps you continue the dialogue with your child.
