Defeating Depression

Distressing Spirits | Bible Study 1 Samuel 16,18

“But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and a distressing spirit from the LORD troubled him.” ~ 1 Samuel 16:14, NKJV
Have you ever felt so unshakably stressed that it seemed God Himself was making you feel that way? It probably was. A distressing spirit from God troubled Saul. Is it possible God has sent a distressing spirit to trouble you? I remember, not so long ago, when I sent a distressing spirit to my son Micah. He had just got his driver’s permit, trying to figure out how the gas pedal works, we were going down the mountain on 250 at night and a semitruck was parked but still jetting out into our lane. I said, “Breaaaaaaaak!” The hair on the back of his neck stood straight up. You better believe I did everything I could to distress him, so that he might learn how to use the other pedal, and not end up a statistic. (This gives you a little window into my parenting style, doesn’t it?) If God sees you heading to a disaster he has every right to distress you, so you might learn to use the steering wheel and change the direction of your life.
